Memoirs of a Geisha

www.blackfilm.com

The weekend was fun. Saturday, My friend and I watched Memoirs of a Geisha. It is a dark film. I am not a fan of seeing other people's misery in life. But when they find what they hoped for at the end, despite all that hardship, I feel that may be, just may be there is still hope for all of us in this world, to make it a better place to live for everyone. Afterwards we participated in IAUT's lecture and at the end, my friend and I decided to join the crowd, who were having dinner with the speaker. It was a very pleasant conversation with the speaker and the rest of the poeple there. I enjoyed my time at Bedford academy where we had dinner. Sunday, I got to start doing some sit ups and streches. I want to become the master of sit ups! have as many sit ups as possible in 1 min;). My friend and I explored Microsoft project and got to play with it a bit. I like to play with it more and learn everything about it. I also made piece with my archives;) and they are back again:)

www.digg.be

We watched Casablanca as well!!Apparently it is the # 1 romantic movie of all times! In my humble opinion,I really didn't find the movie that romantic. As my friend puts it, which I agree, I felt touched by the movie. I admired the director for making a 102 min movie full of all types of emotions. The darkness of war times, Love triangles, patriotism and dramatic. But I feel it was more a story of a betrayal than a story of celebration of love or may we won't love someone without betraying someone else? Does one exists without the other, discluding the first loves?

Permanent!!

www.novopharm.com

Here is the story of the friday the 10th!

Morning

Christina my manager saw me with handful of project. Came to me and said: Is everything okay? Are you happy here? I was a bit suprized but I said, why yes. Everything is great! how is your daurghter doing?? I just asked the most irrelevent question that just popped into my mind! She said that her daughter was doing fine and she smiled and left!

Afternoon

I had to take a late lunch and by the time I got to the cafe, my supervisor, who just was finished her lunch, looked at me sort of suspiciously! why are you late for lunch?so asked. I had to take care of some stuff,I mumbled. And was suprized why she asked me that question. Regardless I ate and went back to my work, I was just sitting down to start my work and bit chatting with my co-worker, she was going to see her friend on the weekend. I told her that I was bored and I want to go to a party! When my supervisor approached me and said: Can you come with me please. She was holding a folder. At first I thought may be I need to see the auditor and explain something about a project but as we passed the auditor's room, I began feeling nervious. I couldn't breathe anymore. Holding my last breath, I finally asked her is it good news or bad news, as I realized we were approaching one of the manager's offices?!She said:I won't give you bad news, or do you want me to give bad news to you?I said:oh not at all. Please don't even say it if it's bad news! At that moment my mind was racing a mile a second thinking about a reason why we are going there. She directed to sit down and she sat next to me. She asked me if I have applied for the positions offered in the company. I said negative, since the HR needs at least a year of service for contract people. Calmly she told me that my department is offereing me a permanent position!!!I was shocked! All this time I thought I was thinking pessimestically and now I was offered a position??I read the the letter in the folder. My salary was raised and I was eligable for benefits and also after a year I could buy shares of the company!!!I was speechless. The only thing I could do was to give a hug to my supervisor and thank her. She said you think I will let you leave?I think I was blushing at that moment since I had hot flashes!!
It was then and there that I realized what Christina was talking about in the morning. Apparantly everyone knew and it was suprize to me!!since afterwards people came to me and congradulated me.

Late Afternoon

As I was wrapping up to leave work I saw Rod, My director. He said with a smile, did you recieve the letter? With the biggest smile on my face, I said yes and thanked him. He said not to thank him. You were a very good employee and we definately want to keep you here as long as possible! We hope you stay here for a while!I guess he knew that I was starting to look around for other positions!!
My co-worker came to me and said:Now you have to invite your friends and have a party!

This is a true story. It happened to a to me when I was so sure that everything is not going to the direction I wanted them to go. I got suprized on how I sometimes get the incorrect impression of the world arround me!

Girls Night Out

www.milestonesrestaurants.com

Last night my girl friends and I met up, after careful planning for 2 weeks! That's how we do things. We plan a head of time to make sure everyone can make it and there is ample time for notifying each other!six girls, Joelle,Christine,Maria,Lina,Muna and I, met at milestones. Milestones have a good atmosphere if you want to sit there and talk and enjoy the surroundings. Nice and melo lighting and colours separates you from time and other locations! We talked about everything. Maria and Muna who are getting married this summer, talked about their planning for honey moon trip. Joelle about the fact that she is thinking about having a baby, specially a baby girl! Lina, travelling all over the world and not wanting to have a baby!. Christine about work and how she was nearly changed her job but didn't and I about work. It was fun and nostolgic. Everyone seemed very happy this time. I took pictures to remind us of all the good times that we had specially that all six of us were present yesterday.

Suprize!!

What more from friendship would you want when your friends plan a suprize b-day party for you?My friend bend so many timings to make it happen for me. To me this was the utmost devotion, consideration and deep affection. I had a blast at my suprize b-day gathering:)specially it was at my favorite restuarant, Marche!! eating, drinking, laughing out loud and getting drunk just with a few pieces of the dark chocolate!was great. Saturday,my family and my friend and I went to Pizza Hut for my family version of b-day!it was fun. Specailly that for lunch, My friend and I made a very delcious food but still were hungry for some Pizza!!Sunday my friend and I decided to try Hot House, as one of my classmates suggested their brunch is great, located on Front and Church, we drove and parked and despite an hour wait list!!we stayed and finally got in. I can just say one word. Fantastic. I would definately will go there again. Afterwards we watched the last episode of Sex and the City. I always cry at the endings.. It was an end to an era! for the series, but also for my friend and I. I managed to add some more pieces to the puzzle and we played some pocker and Rim. It was a great weekend.

Friday night my friend and I decided to throw a game night gathering with some of our close friends. Our goal was to play Torontopoly and Texas Pocker. Having that in mind last week we dedicated some nights to shopping for snack and food and finally everything came into reality on friday night at 7:45, when our first guests arrived:)it was a great close gathering. We ate and danced and sang, thanks to one of our friend's talent in the piano, and finally played. But I must admit, it wasn't a hardcore game because half the time we were laughing at jokes and no pressure in winning;). However I won some good amount of money..ehm..not money really!!chips...I don't play for money..well not yet..if I lose I might have a heart attack!!Friday night ended with poetry and we headed home. Saturday, my friend and I decided to go for brunch and it was such a nice day. Front and Church was the area we decided to explore. It was a nice little walk we had. Lawrance market is located in that area as well. We did a sneak preview of that place too. We ate at Gaient Pub. I ordered Yam Frites, mmmm they tasted yummy!afterwards we decided to headback for another Sex and The City Marathon..

Harper won!!

www.cbc.ca

Although I voted liberal, deep down I wanted conservatives to win. Not because I like their policies. As a matter of fact, some of those policies are scary. However, I think having a conservative minority government won't be bad. It gives a bit of taste of what conservatives are about to everyone who hasn't had the pleasure of living under those policies. Next election would be interesting though. Since people would have more experience in voting, meaning people can really vote according to their experience, not because they are scared of a party therefore although they don't like the other party, they vote for them anyways!

Bon Jovi

http://www.nynewsday.com

Well, last week was very busy, I have lots of stuff to write but I don't have time. I think about alot of things while driving to work and I am planning someday to write all of them down:)Last week was one of my friend's birthday. My friend and I suprized him with a gathering. It had been a while since I gathered up with my friends. It was a fun night at Bedford Academy with great food and a delicious coffee cake. My week followed up with Mohandes meeting, IAUT stuff and last but not least a girls night out on friday which was great because we ended up having our guy friends joining as well..Saturday,my friend and I went to the total wedding show and we started getting estimates on how much will everything costs so we get an idea for budgeting purposes. Lots of exhibitors and great cake testings!!with a fun fashion show. We finished the day by going to The Bay and buying a gift for my friend's coworker's house warming party and head out for his place. Playing pool at his apartment was really cool..I like to play once a week if I get the time. Sunday was the relaxing day and getting energized for this week to come. My friend and I started the new puzzle and made Rushian Salad, watched alot of Sex and The city, we are on 5th season now!!impressive, eh?and finished the day at a Mr.Greek. Today, I am going to Bon Jovi's concert with Anna and I have the least expectations on how it will turn out..I just know, that I will be part of the concert of a legandary rocker:)

Bridal Show

www.justinalexanderbridal.com
Apparantly this type of style is in now!

Finally my friend and I finished our second puzzle, we had put it off since Nov.2005!!and now I very excited to get the frames and start on the third one. I haven't got my braces yet and I am now being very spectical about it. I went to Bridal show this weekend it was really fun. It's amazing how much detail can be applied to a wedding!!The fashion show was great as well. I fell in love with some of the dresses;)But the cutest of all were the 3-4 year old girls dressed in flower grils.
I got a wedding planner that it has the % mircobudgets of the total budget. Here how it works. I think it's fantastic that they have all the info.Approximately you will know for whatever amount of budget how you might end up to allocate the money for each task.

Ceremony(9%), Wedding Attire(10%), Photography(9%), Videography(5%), Stationary(4%), Reception(35%), Music(5%), Bakery(2%), Flowers (6%), Decoration(2%), Transportation(2%),Gifts(3%),Parties(4%),Rental Items(3%), Miscellaneous(4%)

I know it will add up to 103%;) but that's if you don't plan your financials well. I think not only it's important to plan a wedding but also its crucial to talk about the finances after the wedding and when life goes back to normal.

well well well, I think 2006 is going to be the "do" year. For years I have delayed things that I had to do at some point in my life, which some of them I was hoping not to do at all;). Anyways I will be getting braces again this saturday and I am hoping that I get them done as soon as possible! How about beating 15 month to a 7 month?I know it's nearly impossible but I am going to try to break the time barrier..how about changing my nose;)?or other cosmetic things?anyways I hope it's for good and my Orthodontist knows what he is doing;)

www.bytesector.com

I got my new cell phone and passed my other one to my brother. I love this new Motorola V400 cellphones. They have lots of features that I didn't have with LG and the reception from Fido and Rogers is doing fine till now. Bell reception drove me carzy!!

I have put "Turkish March" on as the ring and have a nice orchid flower as the screensaver. I used to have Hungrian Dance as my ring on my previous cell phone but I think this song is a nice touch.

Happy holidays

source:www.purechristians.org

This year that I am working at Novopharm, it's Novopharm's tradition to shut down the plants for a week and that is completely awesome. I started my vacation on the Friday night at Eglinton and Yonge where it was ISU's Yalda party. It was fun and very crowded. DJ Dynamite was good but the other one not as much.I ended up going home right after the party around 2:00..It made me wonder, Last year I ended up going out with my friends to get a bite afterwards, but not anymore this year!!Am I getting a boring person?less active and not as much into partying?saturday, I spent the day with my friend, we played Pocker and we came back to my house for dinner. Dinner was delicious and then we started opening up presents after the christmass tradition. Although usually people open their presents in the morning of Christmass day but opened up on Christmass eve.I spent Christmass day with my friend playing cards, cooking and watching movie. Monday, which was boxing day, we went for shopping and then started to watch Sex and The city Series. Tuesday was all Sex and the City series watching and playing cards, Hearts, Rim. I want to learn 21 or black Jack soon too:)My friend goes back to work for the rest of the week but I am off. I wanted to organize a night out with my girlfriends but one of my close friends is away on ski trip and I guess I will wait until she comes back:)I probably use the rest of this holiday to go to the bank, shopping, relaxing, buying a note book for myself so I can take notes at work. Study validation notes, go ice skating if possible, help out in the household chores and expect the unexpected;)I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy new year. Hope everyone is enjoying this time as much I am enjoying:)

Last week was very busy for me. Meetings, studying, my car oil change, and two great lunchs. One lunch out, at Bombay Palace and the other was at our company. I like the attitude of appreciation in Novopharm. When I compare to other places, I appreciate their employee care and their stress free envrionment. I finally think I know all the component of a validation protocol!!from IQ,OQ,PQ, and a bit of PLC..and looking forward to learn more. I just learned about GEP(Good engineering practice) and I want to get my hands on that book and start reading it:), I have been reading GMP(Good Manufacturing Practice) and mostly for quality control booklet, that contains the guidlines and regulations and most importantly the rational behind the regulation. I love the logic ladder:)anyways I will be going to a christmass party tonight and to helping out for Mohandes party tomorrow but aslo going to my friend's coworker's house warming party:)It all seem so busy but they are all filled with lots of fun, joy and love and tons of memory to remember these days by.

Precious-Depeche Mode

worldinmyeyes.ifrance.com

Precious and fragile things
Need special handling
My God what have we done to You?
We always try to share
The tenderest of care
Now look what we have put You through...

Things get damaged
Things get brokenI thought we managed
But words left unspoken
Left us so brittle
There was so little left to give
Angels with silver wings
Shouldn't know suffering
I wish I could take the pain for you

If God has a master plan
That only He understands
I hope it's your eyes
He's seeing through

I pray you learn to trust
Have faith in both of us
And keep room in your hearts for two

Alot has happened since my last post. I just didn't have time to write about them. From one of my very good friends birthday party last friday to Jewllary making party on saturday and good bye gathering of one of my friends on saturday night. Also last week it was my friend's talk at Mohandes science and technology subcommitte. I enjoyed his talk and it's amazing how you can solve problems of one descipline with other descipline's facts! Jewllary making party was great, specailly for me how has never tried it. It was seven of us and we went shopping for stones and all the accessories and mean while thinking of ideas of what to make:)It's amazing that 7 girls were together, working really hard without much talking!!It was fun. I like to continue doing more..the funny thing is that when I told my coworkers at work, they were asking if they can buy them!!!!It's funny, I am a novice still;)may be a bussiness comes out of it:P...I think it's time for exploring other arts aspect of my life that I have put on hold for so long. I want to learn to play harps. I just need to find a good teacher and start hopefully in the next few month..There are so many things I want to do that I have to make a schadule of them:)BTW, I finally learned to play Texas type Poker!!!It's really cool. Also I looked at the stock market game that apparently is the new hype;)anyways tons of things to do and not much time:)But I look forward to them. I am very content at this point of my life. I applied for a validation position in my company, which I am hoping to get, but even if I don't, no sweats..but more importantly, I am in love!!

Tuesday, November 22, 2005

Last Thursday I went to my friend's convocation. Listening to the speech of one of the professors and his life advises to the graduating class of 0T5 was interesting. Basically STOP and take time to take the easy way out! Try to understand how precious are your time, your times you spend with your loved ones. I loved his speech, however I disagreed with some of the Dean of graduate studies at U of T. I felt and found the statistics that she was giving out for the status of a masters/PhD degrees, were unreal and out of touch with market and industry. Ofcourse there are always special cases but the major suffer.
***
Saturday I went to Simin joon's wedding. It was a small wedding but full of love. I wish her and her husband a great life together. Life is too short to waste it on worthless issues, or issues that has proven to bring hurtful results.
****
Work is fine. Very smooth, and no one is at my tail trying to micro manage me. Specially that I am in the best supervisor's team and I have the best trainer ever. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that I am seeing a pattern in my coworker's behavior toward myself from my Purdue position and here at Novopharm. I have found out that I would rather work with female coworkers than male ones. There is atleast one guy in the work place that I don't want to have any contact and conversation. And guess where he sits!!!Just behind me. His voice, his egosystical behavior makes me talk as minimal as possible with him, Ask absolutely for no help from him and try to ignore him. Thank God for Elena and Shaf at work. I can talk to them about future and that's what keeps me sane. I am learning the techniques I always like to learn hrtr but still I can't stop thinking of moving to a new position. . I just wish I knew if I am moving toward the right direction or not...Everything is so complicated. Higher education not necessarily means better life. So I am lost in where to gear..

Thursday, November 17, 2005

It's a great day today. It's my best friend's convocation at U of T:)can't wait to see him in the hood;)

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Some times I get extremely sick and tired of people who do not understanding the obvious. Anyways, I am going to make more time for my girlfriends and female friends for a while since I am over loaded with testosterone!!This weekend, Saturday I am going for a wedding and Sunday I am going to watch a movie with Anna. Anna has recently had a huge abdomen's surgery and I like to cheer her up by going to movies with her:)I want to make time for Melissa and the girls I met at GSK as well. I guess in the coming weeks. I might go and visit Purdue and probably will attend Novopharm's Christmas party. Today a girl from another department came to me and asked me if I want to go for lunch and I said yes and joined her and her friend with Shaf, my classamte at U of T. We ended up having a great conversation and realizing that she is a chemical engineer as well. We talked about U of T and talked about future. It was fun. I hope I can find the people I want to find, to ask my future career questions. Listening to people from different backgrounds and ages are always interesting to me. I never get bored of it. How long have you been working here?Oh god I think it has been 16 years!!the lady answered. So you must be pretty happy with this company that you have stayed here so long. I finally heard the sentence that I was looking for, for the past year. The sentence that freaks me out and makes me be single for the rest of my life!!Once you have a family with kids you don't really have the choice to move around and experience different companies or different fields, She said. How can I balance this? How can I convince myself that being married and having kids is not the end of my career life, specially now that I think I have found the love of my life?

Feeling Good- Michael Buble

www.amazon.com

Love the jazz in this song and love the lyrics. Enjoy:)

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom in the tree
You know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonfly out in the sun
you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world For me
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Yeah freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life For me
And I'm feeling good
